Yet, assessing human heath impacts in impact assessment (IA), with obvious exception of health impact assessment, is still rather vague. Inclusion of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators in environmental impact assessment (EIA) seems to be an opportunity to improve this practice. We reviewed a list of health-related indicators for SDGs as defined by the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) in Seattle, WA, USA with the aim of identifying those to be suggested as outcome indicators within EIA. Among 42 health-related indicators, we identified 17 which could be relevant for IA procedures and 2 with potential relevance. Those determined relevant can be categorized into three groups: • direct health indicators (e.g. under 5 mortality) • complex indicators (e.g. cancer) • environmental determinant indicators (e.g. mean PM2.5) All 17 indicators can be employed to improve quantification within EIA procedures in terms of assessment of human health impacts and bring SDGs into EIA processes. Although our assessment was conducted for Denmark, the process of their identification can be generalized.
