This study aims to identify individual and contextual factors associated with malaria in children aged 6-59 months. Data for our study were extracted from the Burkina Faso Malaria Indicator Survey (MIS), 2017-2018. We performed a multilevel logistic regression model to highlight individual and contextual factors of malaria. Our analysis included 5822 children aged 6 to 59 months. The risk of exposure to malaria increased with age, with a five-fold increase in risk of exposure for children aged 3 to 4 years compared to those aged 6 months to 1 year . Children of mothers with at least secondary education had a 41% lower risk of exposure. Those from wealthy households had a 43% lower risk. Early access to appropriate care reduces the risk by 50%. The study identified individual and contextual determinants of malaria in children aged 6-59 months in Burkina Faso. Taking them for the design and implementation of policies will be of undeniable help in the fight against malaria.
