However, home-based care should also integrate the need for institutional care when required, especially in the Indian context and other resource constraint settings. This community-based mixed-methods study aimed to identify the effect of different behavioral factors of the caregivers, behind decision of home-isolation based treatment of a new COVID-19 diagnosed elderly individual, and also explore the facilitators and barriers contributing to decision-making process. The model proposed in this study included behavioral constructs like risk tolerance, risk aversion, regret aversion, and loss aversion along with self-efficacy and risk perception. Self-efficacy, risk perception, and risk tolerance related to different issues were key factors behind choice of healthcare decision. However, in terms of the different issues under consideration, risk perception followed by risk tolerance were the major predictors for decision-making.
