LIFE COURSE EPIDEMIOLOGY OF CHRONIC DISEASE - FROM SURVEILLANCE TO INTERVENTIONS

The life course epidemiology examines the origin of chronic diseases in the past of individuals, considering the duration and timing of exposure to different risk factors, throughout the life of the individual, from gestation to an advanced age. The life course epidemiology is interested as much in bio-psycho-social determinants as in environmental and societal influences on the trajectories of health and various diseases, either somatic or psychic.

With this call, we want to address, first, how life course epidemiology transforms the surveillance and monitoring of chronic diseases. Second, we want to address what are the real implication of life course epidemiology knowledge for public health interventions and policies. In a consequential epidemiology perspective, key is to evaluate whether the level of evidence derived from this field and the potential effect is sufficient to implement intervention.
We invite high quality Reviews of all formats, including mapping and scoping reviews,
and Policy Briefs on:
• How life course epidemiology modified surveillance and monitoring of chronic diseases
• Level of evidence for the prevention of chronic diseases across the life course
• Causality challenges in the life course epidemiology of chronic diseases and implications for policy-making
• Preventive, including primordial, strategy of chronic diseases in a life course perspective

The Call is open for submission from September 01, 2021 until December 31, 2023.
